No Time for Love Dr. Jones

Have you ever watched a movie, tv show, or read a book and thought really? You have to profess your undying love now!

Of course No time for love Dr. Jones comes from India Jones, but I think this phrase can be used for any movie, tv, book scene in which the bad guys are about to attack, someone has just been brutally injured, the apocalypse is about to occur…you get the picture.

So I thought I would go over those favorite moment that make me shout “no time for love Dr. Jones!”

Post script, I really do like these movies, shows, and books. Otherwise I don’t think I could be so ‘no time for love Dr. Jones’ on minute, then that was awesome the next.

Orphan Black. You know the scene when Paul say that Beth wasn’t the one I loved. Okay yes, he turned out to be the hero everyone was hoping for. And yes I’m sure some people swooned when he said that. But me I was thinking about the Castor Clones, Mother, oh yeah and the fact that everyone is looking for Sarah.

Mockingjay, Part I when Gale talks about how the only time he can get Katniss’s attention is when he is in pain. Actually I guess the Hunger Gamer series in general. Okay yes, you can’t help but feel bad for the guy. Who has not been there? When you like someone and they know you like them, but they are not sure how they feel about you. But you still hope they like you, they just haven’t realized it yet. But it’s not exactly the same because you don’t have some crazy government trying to take over everything.

The Delirium series by Lauren Oliver. To be fair it is based on a society in which love is a disease. But is the middle of a fight between the government and the rebels a good time to fight over a girl? Yes she kicks but in her own right, but can we wait until after everything settles down first, like the battle?

There’s even a ‘no time for love Dr. Jones’ moment in WALL-E. Yes WALL-E. When WALL-E risk his battery life to save the plant. Then EVE forgets about her directive to show WALL-E she cares about him. Then WALL-E is insistent and says ‘directive’ and you’re already crying because you keep saying “he’s gonna make it right?” Then EVE finally understands the directive will also save WALL-E.

Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Two words. Anakin and Padme. First let me say I LOVE Star Wars. But when I watch this all I can think is if someone is out to get me, I think my last thought would be of romance. Knowing me, I would be too busy asking, What was that? Did you guys hear that? Do I know that person who is staring this way? Can you go to the store for me? Cause I need to be incognito.

If all this has thought me anything. It is I guess Indie should take a page from Han Solo’s book and kept it short and to the point. Two words that’s it. “I know.”

I’m not sure what this blog post is about

Yet again I have gone another two weeks without writing anything. My last reason was because of the holidays. This time it is because well I’m not sure other than too many books to read, and shows to watch. Sometimes I wonder if my procrastination for writing comes from the fact that I sit behind a keyboard IRL. But who am I kidding it’s mostly the books and tv shows thing I want to do.

So speaking of things to watch, Mockingjay Part I comes out this Friday! To answer your question yes, I have been on a Hunger Games movie marathon today. Today was a very SciFi , dystopian movie day in the House Of Cooper. If you have not seen the Comic Relief with David Tennant and Catherine Tate, you need to. That’s all I’m going to say get on the YouTube and look it up.

Even though it was a SciFi day today, I stayed away from the Trek. I was telling my husband the other day, I don’t think I’ll be able to watch the Trek for a while. Even though we know the ending, and the movie in its entirety will not change. Some of the magic seems like it won’t be. I will leave it at that because for each person that feel in love with, and will fall in love with Leonard Nimoy, it will have a different meaning. I just wanted to put that out there into the vast ocean of the internet.

Speaking of vast ocean of the internet. Well just vast ocean. Do you ever have those days where you feel uncool? Like you’re just plain weird? Those are my favorite and worst days to have. Favorite because you know that well as Moss would say, “Weird’s all I got. That and my sweet style.” It also lets you bring something different to the table. Even though some people will stare at you and ask “who is Felicia Day?” “What is Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along-Blog?” or say “I have never seen Firefly” “I don’t watch Doctor Who.”

And it’s the worst day because you feel like no one gets it. No one gets you. It’s kind of like the times in middle school when you hear people whispering and you think it’s about you. Maybe it was. The important thing to remember is I don’t think anyone can honestly say I never have a day where I feel, meh. Just remember you are not alone. With that last sentence I guess I was not as done as I thought. I was in talking about Nimoy because I think that is what brought this on. Just the feeling of those days when you feel small, but in reality you are part of a bigger community than you know. Whether it’s SciFi, books, certain tv shows, it’s always a bigger place than you imagine it was. Yes, sometimes it takes a while to find your peeps, but you will.

Okay I am not sure if my ramblings are making sense. And hopefully it does not sound like I am standing up here on a soap box. These are just thoughts that have been moving around up there in my brain. I guess I wanted to finally put it on paper so to speak.

Oh before this long side rant I was talking about Mockingjay. So yeah it comes out this Friday. First of let me say ….. Hunger Games! Second, why release it on a Friday. I guess I am wondering why so much because normally new movie releases around here come out on Tuesdays. Although I am pretty sure the interwebs know something I don’t know. Because let’s face it. I am always late to Tweet about a show that just finished airing two, three, four days ago. But in my defense I cannot Tweet while the show is going on. I just can’t. I like to watch my tv shows in the moment. And sometimes it’s because I have to have a good cry afterwards like when the last episode of Parks and Rec aired this past week.

So in conclusion. Nope, there’s no real conclusion here because it was just all random. I will end this on one more note though. In a recent interview Leonard Nimoy tribute I saw there was a clip of an interview he did, where he mentioned the live long and prosper Vulcan greeting came from a blessing he saw at a Hebrew ceremony. Then he said so when people do this to each other *he gives the love long and prosper symbol* they are really blessing each other. Me personally, and again I hope it does not sound too soap boxy, I think that’s awesome.

Random thoughts on things I’ve watched recently

Okay, so this is my second or so random thoughts blog. Today I thought I would share some stuff that has been on my mind. Just things that I’ve seen lately.

Did anyone see Book of Life? If you have not seen this, then you should. This animated movie was a breath of fresh air. When I first saw the previews I said aloud I have to see that. For one it is a Guillermo Del Toro production. And two it looks funny. Spoiler alert, it was funny. Whoever thought of using the song Just a Friend to help Joaquin serenade Maria was a genius. Well at least the people my age thought it was funny. All the song selections for Book of Life were great. I never thought I would hear Creep as a let me sing this song while no one is looking to express how I feel about us and my life song. Oh, third reason to see it the cast. Diego Luna, Zoe Saldana, Channing Tatum, Ron Perlman, Christina Applegate, Ice Cube, and Kate del Castillo.

Oh, another reason to see it is a brilliantly colorful story. Seriously when you look at the movie you have to view the screen from top from bottom because every scene is filled with beautiful art work. Oh, and the most important reason it shares the culture of Dia de los Muertos, and it does not talk down to the audience when it does. Anyone who loves learning about other cultures, or loves the creativity that goes into animated movies needs to see this movie.

There are a lot of great lines in the Book of Life. Like when the kids at the museum are listening to the story, and one of them says what are you doing to us we are just kids? Or when Candle Maker (Ice Cube) says today was a good day. I also like saying, Joaquin! whenever I’m about to do something awesome. Okay well more like I am about to read this book. Or, see a favorite movie, Joaquin!

Speaking of things you watch I have been binge watching Arrow Season 2 today. Can I say something if I can say something, when I saw Sara Lance I was like finally! Finally another girl who can kick butt. And is not like aw you have family problems, well let me make this moment about me girl. I say another girl, because the first being Felicity, who kicks IT butt. Although I don’t appreciate (and this is only my opinion) that brains does not equal beautiful thing or whatever I can’t be with someone who I might care about excuse. Then he says I love you in the season finale. That was confusing considering he has been with Sara the whole time. Don’t get me wrong, you’re my girl Sara, but if Oliver loves Felicity why not just not be with anyone? BUT then it turns out he was just doing that to trick Slade.

So my review of season 2: all this for a girl? Gee wiz. (And if you are wondering what girl, take your pick.) My apologies that sounded a bit snippy, but sometimes it’s all a little too much, I don’t know, brooding. Now that I think of it, I keep saying things like this happened and he did this. So I can’t I will not, not watch the show. What? This is a judge free zone. See that right there judge free.

Hunger Games! Mockingjay Part I! Every preview that has come out I’ve been like don’t talk to me right now there’s a Hunger Games trailer on. There are a lot of moments in different previews where I have been gasping and saying that’s in the book! Well I yell that in my head because I am too excited about what I am seeing to verbalizing. I am looking forward to it because Catching Fire really captured the essence of the book and I think this movie will too. Speaking of the book I need to get started on my tradition of reading the book again before I see the movie. Two more weeks! Hunger Games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
