My random thoughts after watching Captain America Civil War

And I do mean random. I’m hoping by now most people have seen Captain America by now that I am not spooling too much. And yes, I know that it has been a while since I’ve written anything but you know …”things, life, whatnot.”

“Life is not whatnot, and its none of your business.” Sorry that was a John Hughes Sixteen Candles rant … “Sixteen Candles, John Hughes? You know that guy too?”  Sorry that was a Dogma rant.

Where was I, oh yeah Captain America Civil War. I thought the movie was good. It had a nice balance of humor and serious undertones. Then, I was taken out of the movie by one scene. The k-i-s-s-i-n-g scene between Sharon Carter and Steve Rogers. It’s not about the actors, but I felt that scene was kind of forced. And I was thinking, why are you kissing you are practically family. In an alternate universe somewhere out there Peggy and Steve get married, and that’s all I got to say about that.

Wait one more thing. Maybe two more things, but I am also wondering did I miss something? Do Sharon Carter and Steve Rogers really know each other? I mean I know they were neighbors, but does that mean they talked, like friends? Wait, one last things, would Peggy be cool with this? The love of her life and her niece. It seems kind of rude. Luckily Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky (Sebastian Stan) took me out of that scene with their smiling at Cap.

I will have to say something, some may not agree with. But if I can say something, if I can say something. This was the first Marvel movie I did not like Tony Stark. Yes, he is usually a smart-alack but that is what makes him funny. This time, it was like “I’m depressed about Pepper. Now I feel guilty. So now I am going to overcompensate and go overboard.”

No wonder the bromance between Tony and Steve ended with a Dear John letter. I kept hearing Taylor Swift lyrics “We are never ever ever getting back together. You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me.”

Gee wiz. Even T’Challa/Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) understood that Bucky had been brain washed and certain things were not his fault. He gets it. This time, I think Stark went too far. I mean was it necessary when Sam asked if Rhodes/War Machine (Don Cheadle) was okay for Tony Stark to shoot at him? But I guess that it’s a necessary part of the story. You got to tell both sides.

Not sure how I feel about Spider-Man. Tom Holland is funny as Peter Parker and brings genuine naivety/innocence to the character. That’s all I got to say about that. I am not sure there was enough for me to say cool beans, etc. I know, I know they can’t character develop just yet.

So those are my thoughts on Captain America Civil War. And in conclusion, “You see us as you want to see us – in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain, and an athlete, and a basket case, a princess and a criminal.”

See that? Full circle. And somehow that Breakfast Club quote works.

Movie trailers part 2

I have been thinking about the recent movie trailers that I saw during The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug.
Jupiter Ascending: You know how when you read a paragraph of a book, and you automatically know the author before you even look at who wrote it? You could tell this was the Wachowski twins when watching this preview. While I have only seen one preview, for a second I thought it was a young adult book. Still have not figured out why Channing Tatum looks a little like an elf? (side rant: speaking of YA – Not books - movies – when I saw the Vampire Dairies – first I was like huh? Then I was like what? Then I was just confused)
Edge of Tomorrow: It’s like Ground Hog Day meets Elysium meets Starship Troopers. @DimesnsAndGalxs made a very good point, at least in this movie it seems like the girl does not need to be rescued. I love Emily Blunt, and I look forward to her kick butting skills.
47 Ronin: Still seem to be waiting for Wolverine to pop up on this one when I hear the guy is looking for a half breed, and makes who is looking for like this super awesome mutant.
Captain America: I am still kind of worried when I see the previews for this one. Since each preview I see on the telly (as they say on the other side of the pond) or at the movies 95% has the Black Widow. Where are you Captain America? I miss you already. L
Earth to Echo: AT first it reminded me of Chronicle. Then when I saw Echo, I started thinking of The Minions. You know the mini movie where an alien comes to Earth and the minion helps him learn how to be a puppy.
Spiderman 2: I know these are considered reboots, and I probably should not compare to the Tobey Maguire Spiderman but can I say something if I can say something? Gwen seems much cooler than Mary Jane. Okay, let me explain what I mean. I mean that she seems to be a bit more understanding to Spiderman’s whereabouts, and does not give him the “I’m mad at you-I’ going to date this rich guy-thanks for being late again-even though I know that you are Spiderman and are totes busy” look. Maybe I am the only one who felt this way when I saw it, but I think I prefer Gwen over Mary Jane.
These are just some thoughts I have had. I apologize in advanced, sometimes my mind tends to wander during the previews, but they are one of my favorite things of going to the movies.

Trailers

I was going to write about recent movies I saw when they came out, Ender’s Game and Thor: The Dark World. Which I’m sure everyone has seen and has probably already read other blogs or reviews. So I thought I would do something a little differed and write about trailers I saw.
One of the trailers I have been most excited about is Catching Fire. Yes, I have read all the books. And yes, when everyone was talking about them I was all “what’s the big deal?” Then, I read the trilogy and was all “holy cow, Batman these are good!” During the Catching Fire trailer all I kept thinking was hey that’s straight from the books when Peeta gives Katniss the locket! They’re going to show the dress Cinna makes that turns into a mockingjay! There are going to have the mist from the Quarter Quell. I am super excited to see the things straight from the book.
Let us not forget The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug! With Benedict Cumberbatch and his sinister dragon voice. There are no words, well maybe one… allons-y. Can I ask why is Black Widow in like 98% of the Captain America: The Winter Solider trailer I saw this weekend? I just feel like the Captain America trailer was making it about her. What’s up with that? X-Men: Days of Future Past, two words James McAvoy. Two more words, awesome actor.
I’m not sure if I am alone in this boat, but when I saw the intro to the 47 Ronin trailer “I’m looking for someone who was sold to you. A half bred banished from our land.” I was waiting for Wolverine to come out on the scene. Okay I admit I cried when I saw the Delivery Man trailer. So what? I would like to defend my last statement by quoting from The Guild Season 6:
Tink: Oh God. Donovan just asked me to go to lunch later. No reason.
Codex: So?
Tink: There’s just something freaky going on in my chest area. Maybe I’m having a heart attack.
Zaboo: Tink, those are feelings.
