It's not a major update. I finally fixed my blog so it now appears under Melissa verses my Elizabeth Bennet gmail account. Hooray!
This is something I have been wanting to do for a while. Well as my husband was helping me, I realize I really should have done this when I first began my blog. Well no matter. The point is it's done.
My old entries from this year will still have Lizzie Bennet, but it's still me as my previous profile mentioned. Now I'm just babbling. So stayed tune for new blogs in the new year ... same Bat-time, same Bat-channel.

Movie trailers part 2
I have been thinking about the recent
movie trailers that I saw during The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug.
Jupiter Ascending: You know how when
you read a paragraph of a book, and you automatically know the author before
you even look at who wrote it? You could tell this was the Wachowski twins when
watching this preview. While I have only seen one preview, for a second I
thought it was a young adult book. Still have not figured out why Channing
Tatum looks a little like an elf? (side rant: speaking of YA – Not books -
movies – when I saw the Vampire Dairies – first I was like huh? Then I was like
what? Then I was just confused)
Edge of Tomorrow: It’s like Ground
Hog Day meets Elysium meets Starship Troopers. @DimesnsAndGalxs made a very
good point, at least in this movie it seems like the girl does not need to be
rescued. I love Emily Blunt, and I look forward to her kick butting skills.
47 Ronin: Still seem to be waiting
for Wolverine to pop up on this one when I hear the guy is looking for a half
breed, and makes who is looking for like this super awesome mutant.
Captain America: I am still kind of
worried when I see the previews for this one. Since each preview I see on the
telly (as they say on the other side of the pond) or at the movies 95% has the Black
Widow. Where are you Captain America? I miss you already. L
Earth to Echo: AT first it reminded
me of Chronicle. Then when I saw Echo, I started thinking of The Minions. You
know the mini movie where an alien comes to Earth and the minion helps him learn
how to be a puppy.
Spiderman 2: I know these are
considered reboots, and I probably should not compare to the Tobey Maguire
Spiderman but can I say something if I can say something? Gwen seems much
cooler than Mary Jane. Okay, let me explain what I mean. I mean that she seems
to be a bit more understanding to Spiderman’s whereabouts, and does not give
him the “I’m mad at you-I’ going to date this rich guy-thanks for being late
again-even though I know that you are Spiderman and are totes busy” look. Maybe
I am the only one who felt this way when I saw it, but I think I prefer Gwen
over Mary Jane.
These are just some thoughts I have
had. I apologize in advanced, sometimes my mind tends to wander during the
previews, but they are one of my favorite things of going to the movies.

Random and reoccurring thoughts.
I just finished reading The Fault in
Our Stars by John Green. I know that I might be a little late in reading this
book due to all the wonderful comments I have read online. Although I did avoid
summary comments because I wanted to be surprised when I finally read this
book. It is one of the most wonderful books I have read this year next to
Eleanor & Park, and Fangirl. I was looking for something to read after Fangirl
because in all honesty I felt the next book I read after Rainbow Rowell had
some big shoes to fill. I found it in The Fault in Our Stars. It made me laugh
out loud, cried for true love passing away, and happy that two people found
love.
This does have a point, I promise.
With my statement earlier about how it was a beautiful and heartbreaking story
why label it as it as YA fiction? I realize that labeling a books as Young
Adult (YA) is based on the reading level of the book. I do understand that,
however why can’t fiction just be fiction? I really don’t understand when it
became important to label something as YA or juvenile fiction.
I think I might have asked this in a
blog before, why can’t a great story be that a great story. For example, The
Little Prince by Antonie de Sanit-Exupery is normally not introduced as children’s
book The Little Prince, it’s simply called The Little Prince. I feel that the reason
for this is because the meaning it holds for each reader. While it is true this
book and The Fault in Our Stars have different stories and perhaps different
meanings, the point is they have different meanings.
And books provide us with great
memories. When I was little my brother and I were obsessed with Happy Birthday
Moon by Frank Asch. Although my mother had gotten for both of us, we spent part
of the time arguing whose book it really was, now the most important thing I
remember is the time he and I spent together reading Happy Birthday Moon.
Stories are what make us human. It
provides a connection to one another. And there are times when we fall in love
with a story that we keep it to ourselves because it has special meaning. There
are other times when we fall in love with a book so much that we just can’t
help but share it.
In my world, I do not wish to label a
book as YA, children’s literature, etc because what matters is how the story
makes me feel. And a wonderful story is just that, a wonderful story.
